The Booth

"Not the prettiest place in town, but she'll do." ~Former owner

The Booth is the name of the nightclub owned and operated by Bass Boost. It is only open after sundown, but a sound-proofing spell cast by Bass Boost prevents the music from keeping everypony in Ponyville awake, except during the busiest and liveliest nights.

History[]

The Booth is a former salt-lick café previously owned by an unnamed stallion who settled in Ponyville sometime before the current owner, Bass Boost, was born. It had a good run for a few years (even with the occasional incident among the more rowdy customers), but was often faced with the threat of shutting down given how little profit it made compared to other businesses. After many years of defying the odds, a young musician from Manehattan arrived and struck a deal with the owner-if he was allowed to play his music in the café, he would work as a server without pay. The owner agreed, and over the course of three years the business saw a dramatic increase in success, many regulars coming in just for the music and socialization, which mixed well with the quality drinks that were served. The owner and musician formed a strong bond, and one Spring morning the café was signed over to Bass Boost out of nowhere, with the now former owner never being seen nor heard from again. The last words spoken between them were from Bass, who promised his old friend that he'd always get free service and "a very warm welcome".

Trivia[]

  • What is presumed to be a storage attic in The Booth is actually the second floor of the building, and Bass Boost's home.
  • His old boss (the former owner of the café) gets free service at The Booth whenever he wants, but Bass hasn't seen him since receiving ownership of the establishment.
  • Both the former owner and Angel Tone have framed photos of them in The Booth, right above the DJ's platform. Bass put them there as tribute to the two ponies he feels he owes his career and place in life to.
  • A "booth" is the platform where a disc jockey (or "DJ") plays music for and speaks to a crowd.
