The Azure Dojo, front view

The Azure Dojo, also called the Ponyville Dojo, is a training school currently owned by Azure Helm. Regular classes are taught from 4pm to 7pm, with special instruction available afterwards by request. In front of the dojo is a pond and a sand/rock garden. The dojo is down the road from the Treebrary.

History

The dojo was originally owned by Master Onion, a famous martial arts instructor. However, having not been seen for some time in Ponyville, the dojo was foreclosed and put up for rent by the town. Some time later, Azure Helm noticed the dojo on one of his visits to the Treebrary down the road. Coincidentally, he was studying and teaching himself martial arts at the time. He immediately appreciated the old and run-down building for what it was: an opportunity to finally set some roots in Ponyville as well as support his continued stay there.

After asking around about the place and thinking the matter over for several weeks, Azure Helm decided to reopen the dojo and start teaching there again. He not only did this because it would help him avoid the trouble of completely renovating the place, but also because he felt that he would be fulfilling his cutie mark's calling to aid and protect others. He believed that by teaching the residents of Ponyville martial arts, he would help reduce the dangers they faced in their everyday lives, especially those from the nearby Everfree Forest.

After several days spent cleaning up the place and purchasing the necessary materials, he opened the dojo for business and has been teaching there ever since.

Layout

The dojo consists of one large main hall with a medium-sized annex at the rear of the building. The annex is used as a storage room for training dummies and other miscellaneous equipment. In the main hall, there are bucking bags hung along the walls. The middle of the hall is left open for group exercises and general practice. The end of the hall is slightly raised as a stage for demonstrations.
